Heating & cylinders

Hot water that keeps up with the house.

Full heating systems, unvented cylinders, system upgrades, new radiators and controls. The larger installations, in larger and older houses, where experience shows.

Older and larger houses often have heating systems that have been added to over the years, and the result is a house that is never quite warm enough or a shower that goes cold when a tap runs. Chris sorts these out: a properly sized cylinder, a system boiler to drive it, and pipework and controls that let each part of the house do its own thing.

Unvented cylinders give mains-pressure hot water to every tap and shower at once. They need to be installed and certified by someone qualified to do it, and Chris is. Vented cylinder replacements, cylinder repairs and immersion heaters are all covered.

He also replaces radiators, moves them, fits thermostatic valves, upgrades controls to a modern programmer or smart thermostat, and cleans systems that have years of sludge in them.

Questions

The things people ask us.

Should I have a combi or a cylinder?

If more than one shower or bath is used at the same time, a cylinder usually wins. We will look at how your household uses hot water and tell you which suits it.

Can you fit a cylinder where my old tank is?

Usually, and an unvented cylinder frees up the loft because it needs no cold water tank. Space, pipework and the incoming mains pressure all matter, and we check them before quoting.

Reviews

What customers say.

“Chris has just installed a new boiler for us and we are so pleased with the job he has done. His work is outstanding, he was incredibly neat and tidy, very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble for him. He turned up on the date he said he would at the arranged time and got straight to work. Not only that, he is such a nice, kind person and if we could give him ten stars we would do. We most certainly would recommend him without a doubt.”

“Chris has been our go-to plumber for a while now and he's been spot on every time. Really flexible and always does his best to fit us in, even at short notice. Turns up when he says he will and just gets on with it. Work is always to a high standard and he leaves everything clean and tidy. Easy to deal with, no drama, and you know the job will be done properly. Wouldn't use anyone else. Highly recommended.”

“After being told by British Gas our boiler no longer had parts available and would need replacing, we contacted Chris with pictures of the boiler who identified that parts were available and confirmed part numbers with the local distributor. 3 hours later (after 2 visits from British Gas) Chris arrived and replaced the failing parts. He had also suggested changing the ignition parts which were completely worn down. 30 mins later the boiler was back up and running. After almost 48 hrs without heating or hot water, Chris had restored our boiler and my 91 year old mother was very greatful. I recommend Chris and his business highly. He was professional, easy going and really knows his stuff. *****Five Stars*****”
